Etmo is a French soprano and tenor saxophonist, clarinetist, and electronic composer. He spent ten years in London - 2000/2010, then moved to Taipei City (Taiwan) and came back recently to the South of France.
His electronic music work can be described as a musical hybrid. He used to call his musical exploration ‘From Ka’lei’ (ka’lei, Greek root of the word Kaleidoscope) to summarize the approach he developed with his electronic studio compositions as well as his live performance with electronic sounds and DJs. He writes eclectic beats, uses a wide array of sounds and instruments from around the globe, and includes spoken words snippets from field recordings and vocals.
When playing Saxes and clarinet, his aim is to explore a narrative way of improvising, with a structured yet free spirited attitude. His electronic compositions draw on a massive soundscape, a melting pot of original sounds and rhythms.
He’s been playing his compositions live with a changing line-up of collaborators for the period 2002-2010 .
Currently, he performs live under the project Etmo meets Osk, this is his main electronic project to continue his music exploration.
At live sets he plays soprano, tenor saxes, clarinet, ethnic flutes, percussion, electronics & kaos pad.
