Etmo is a French soprano and tenor saxophonist, clarinetist, and electronic composer. He spent ten years in London - 2000/2010, then moved to Taipei City (Taiwan) and came back recently to the South of France.

His electronic music work can be described as a musical hybrid. He used to call his musical exploration ‘From Ka’lei’ (ka’lei, Greek root of the word Kaleidoscope) to summarize the approach he developed with his electronic studio compositions as well as his live performance with electronic sounds and DJs. He writes eclectic beats, uses a wide array of sounds and instruments from around the globe, and includes spoken words snippets from field recordings and vocals.
When playing Saxes and clarinet, his aim is to explore a narrative way of improvising, with a structured yet free spirited attitude. His electronic compositions draw on a massive soundscape, a melting pot of original sounds and rhythms.

He’s been playing his compositions live with a changing line-up of collaborators for the period 2002-2010 .

Currently, he performs live under the project Etmo meets Osk, this is his main electronic project to continue his music exploration.
At live sets he plays soprano, tenor saxes, clarinet, ethnic flutes, percussion, electronics & kaos pad.

Etmo meets Osk - Silver Liquid

Limited edition vinyl CD also available
A Cosmic Odyssey

The organic nature of Silver Liquid juxtaposes Etmo’s multidisciplinary use of brass and woodwind instruments, percussion and effects with Osk’s electronic wizardry when using both old analog and new technology - sh101, analog delays, iphone, ableton. This is how these two artists, with very different backgrounds, give birth to an intriguing new sound.

The album, which was recorded in a single session, sounds surprisingly solid for an impromptu collaboration thanks to an exquisite production work. Melodic yet unpredictable and even manic at times, Etmo and Osk deliver a sleek work full of suspense and character.

In Silver Liquid, Etmo’s powerful sax guides you as the scene opens before your eyes and your attention is lead to the little electronic treats that keep coming up as the track progresses.

This cosmic odyssey takes the listening experience to a different level offering you a collage of landscapes, moods and weird creatures.

Silver Liquid stands out as a unique work by these two extremely talented composers/performers.

An inside view of Silver Liquid

Etmo on how Silver Liquid was created.

"... from the first second we started to play we had a great interaction. We were listening carefully to each other, playing with intuition and being able naturally to develop a story telling in real time"

"... the challenge is to say something, to focus and believe on what is happening at the moment you are playing, as well as having an strong intuition and feeling about what will happen in the next few seconds. It is not just about trying things, its more about being able to tell a story together"
Highly recommended viewing!
